Parent Support Group

Parents of children who have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder or one of the Autistic Spectrum Disorders face particular challenges and are often overwhelmed with doubt and hopelessness. One of the best things those parents can do for themselves and their families is to network with other parents to find support available through people who have similar concerns related to their children. This group is dedicated to pursuit of those networking and assistance goals.

Specific group topics include:

  • Developing coping skills
  • Crisis management
  • Creating safety plans
  • Psycho-education about specific diagnoses and related treatments
  • Links to resources
  • Suggested needs from the group

The parent support group will meet at 6 p.m. on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month, starting August 4th.

If you are interested in becoming a part of the group, please let your Relationship Resolutions therapist know. If you are not a current client with Relationship Resolutions, please call 412-921-3908 or email info@relationshipresolutions.org to schedule an intake appointment to determine your appropriateness for the group.

Please note that group members determine how much and what is disclosed at each group session. No one will ever be forced to discuss or divulge anything about which they are uncomfortable. At the beginning of each session, the therapist will remind group members that by participating, they have made a commitment to maintain the confidentiality of all members’ identities and experiences.
